My European friends have probably already seen enough snow in their own surroundings (and maybe be inconvenienced by it), but I couldn't resist posting some snow pictures anyway.

The Netherlands is a small country, but still weather differences can be rather large. Monday I was at my mum's in the North of the Netherlands, where there was a small, civil layer of snow and a beautiful blue sky, which made for some lovely pictures.

It's an agricultural area, as you can see. Actually, it's very dreary in the winter usually, but snow makes everything look beautiful.

If the frost keeps up, there will probably be skaters on here soon.

No skating here though, this is the domain of the birds!

Then, Monday evening I went to my own home in the middle of the Netherlands where there was a big layer of snow! And because there had been no sun, all the snow on the brances was still there. Not such pretty pictures, because of the lack of sun, but walking through this type of snow really gives you the 'Winter wonderland feeling'.

You see what I mean?

Even the statue on the roundabout has a nice layer of snow!

Thanks for posting these. The B&W ones are particularly stunning.

Lovely pics! It's funny, I usually *hate* winter but this year, I've actually enjoyed the snow. The snow here looks much like the ones from your town. It's so pretty!

This year was my first time experiencing real snow, so I was initially very happy, like a kid. Now, I'm just incredibly annoyed by it. But your photos are gorgeous, and proves that winter will always be worth enduring just for sights like these.

Thanks for the comment. They're not actually black and white, but after you mentioned it, I looked at them and they indeed seem to be so! It must be that the snow is so white it makes everything else look black.

I love winter, especially December, January is meh... Snow is better than rain and wind, which we usually have in Dutch winters. Just waking up every morning and looking out your window at a snowy garden is such joy!

Me too! People complain about the inconvenience it causes but they don't even stop to look around them at how beautiful it makes everything look!

You're probably not the only one annoyed by it. And when you have to travel a lot, it is very inconveniencing. But somehow it does not annoy me, even though I have to drag my bike through the snow every morning, probably because the other alternative in The Netherlands is wind and rain, then I'd rather have snow!
