I'll make a confession here: I've never read any of the books of Harry Potter or Twilight nor seen any of the movies. Shocking, I know. And why not? Because I've been asked often enough by friends if I wanted to go with them to the movies or wanted to borrow the books because they were 'really good'. Apparently I was never interested enough. I have quite a list of things I want to read and watch (most of you will have experience with that!) and for something new to make it unto this list, it must make quite an impression.

Then why, do I ask myself, was I the one who asked a friend to come with me to The Hunger Games in the cinema? While I had only seen the trailer and read some blogposts about it beforehand. And why am I anxiously waiting for the books to arrive which I ordered? I can't quite put my finger at it, but I do know the movie has not disappointed me.

It might have been the original story. It might have been the strong female heroine. It might have been the thematic which kept me thinking for a few days afterwards and the possible links of the story to our own society. I still don't know, but apparently sometimes a hunch is enough to discover something new to enjoy!

Movies/Books that make you think are always the best! I admit I felt really discouraged after reading The Hunger Games but I understand that it is a very important series that brings up some really interesting issues to think about.

The Hunger Games is awesome. Enough said. (I'm sure you've already heard this, but I'll have to repeat it: the books blow the movie out of the water. Don't get me wrong; as far as movie adaptions of a book go, it was very good and loyal to the original story and spirit. But still, the books are better. :D)

You're not missing anything with Twilight, but you might want to consider Harry Potter some time in the future. I had no interest in it for a while, because of the magic; but when I did eventually see the movies, I ended up liking them, even though I wasn't crazy about the magic, because the characters were so endearing. :)

I really love the hunger games series,Harry Potter will always be my #1 series but it's defintley up there.

"It might have been the thematic which kept me thinking for a few days afterwards and the possible links of the story to our own society." That is one thing I find very interesting to see the parallels between the society in these books and our own.

I haven't seen the movie but I heard that the series is awesome.

I believe that it's the books & movies that find us, not the other way around :)

*raises hand* I, too, am part of the tiny tiny club of having not seen or read any of the Twilight (doesn't seem like my cup of tea) or Harry Potter (not interested enough) series.

I read The Hunger Games book earlier this year (I may have posted about it), and it lingered with me for some days, kept thinking about it.

Books and movies that make us think are good things,

I'm sure there will be a lot of that in the books as well. I'm really looking forward to reading them! Hurry up, Amazon!

I'm sooo curious after the books, I just hád to buy them after watching the movie. I was not about to wait years to find out how the story continuous after the end of The Hunger Games while all three books are already out and, no matter how good an adaptation is, there's always more material in a book!

Yay, glad to hear I'm not the only one! The movie already lingered with me for days, so I'm very curious to know what the books 'will do to me'

I can also get really discouraged after reading books about WWI or WWII, but they also learn me some important lessons.

I have yet to read/watch the Hunger Games. It seems like something I would love, so one of these days...

Did you go watch the movie? Did you like it?
