Sometimes you collect memes along the way and there comes a time you'll have to post them! That time is now, in the aftermath of a quiet Sunday afternoon. There's also a nice little surprise for all you period drama fans behind the cut!

Meme 1: Comment to this entry and I'll give you a letter. List ten things that you love that begin with that letter and then post that list on your journal.

[livejournal.com profile] wunderkind_lucy gave me the letter  "R "

- Reading: duh... Books are one of the great loves of my life!
- Riding: on horseback I mean. I had riding lessons for years, but unfortunately had to stop because of time and money concerns. I'm really missing it lately, so I'm thinking about starting again
- Regency: as in, the period between 1783-1837. Because Jane Austen lived then and wrote her wonderful books, and because they wore lovely dresses
- Renske: a very dear friend of mine in RL. She paints and you can find some of her paintings here
- Rosy Thornton: this author, which is a member of the C19 forum, started writing North&South fan fiction and now has three books published! And they are lovely!
- Rice: good food
- Research: my passion and hopefully soon my job
- Robins: who doesn't love these intelligent little garden birds?
- Romance: in movies, in books and preferably also in real life, although I'm sadly lacking in experience..
- Rochester: as in, the town in Kent. I went there last summer and it's really worth a visit. Dickens lived here a large part of his life and the town has a lovely high street with historical buildings

Meme 2: Leave a comment and I will give you five words I associate with you. Then post about what they mean to you on your journal.

[livejournal.com profile] themirrorofsin gave me Emma, Lark Rise to Candleford, period dramas, Doctor Who, singing

Emma: although not my favourite Jane Austen novel, it certainly showcases Jane's talent for writing funny and sharp stories with a heart. The recent BBC adaptation with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller was brilliant and takes a high place among my favourite Jane Austen adaptations.

Lark Rise to Candleford: wonderful Sunday evening viewing. Any evening really, but it happens to be on at Sunday... I've been an avid viewer of this series since the beginning, but this third season I feel I'm loosing my interest a bit. Maybe too much of the same for too long? My biggest Lark Rise wish is that Dorcas would find a man she could be happy with.

Period dramas: form about 75% of my DVD collection and about the same amount of movies/tv I watch. My favourites are adaptations of 18 and 19th century British novels: Austen, Dickens, Gaskell, Elliot etc. I can't pinpoint what attracts me so much to them, maybe the fact that period dramas are usually quality products among so many rubbish tv and movies that are made nowadays. And ofcourse the period drama men....

Doctor Who: I'm a relative newcomer to Dr. Who, only started watching end of 2008 and watched the entire new series in about 4 months. From then on, I was hooked! I love the quirkyness of it, but also the fact that you can lie in your bed thinking about the episode you've just watched, trying to unravel the 'wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey'. As you can understand, I'm really, really, really excited about the new series to start next week.

Singing: I sing in a female student choir called Medusa. We sing classical music from many different time periods and especially in many different languages. We have sung Finnish, Czech, Hungarian, Latin, Spanish etc. etc. I always relax from singing. Even if I've had a busy day and don't really feel like going to choir I always end up being glad I went and feeling less stressed. It's a sort of therapy, I guess!

Last but not least: a friend of mine found this T-shirt in a shop and she immediately texted me about it. I really think I'm going to buy it once I've got time to go to the city. The only question is, will I dare to wear it??
