Snow White: Do you consider yourself pretty? Name the part of your body you think is the most beautiful!
Not very, but I'm generally okay with how I look. I like my hair, it's really thick and just a little bit wavy.
Cinderella: What is your shoe size?
40 or 41 (that would be a 7 or 7,5 in UK size and 7,5 or 8 in US size, according to some 'shoe-size converter' on the internet)
Sleeping Beauty: How many hours do you sleep each night?
My goal is to sleep 8 hours, but I'm an evening person and I tend to read too long at night (or I could just say, I tend to have to get up too early!) I can function on 6 hours a night, but not more than one night in a row, please. In the weekend I sometimes sleep for up to 12 hours, de-light-ful!
Little Red Riding Hood: What is your favorite food?
Oh, this can really depend on so many things: my mood, the season of the year etc. At the moment I'm really fond of salads (with the warmer weather etc.), I found a really good recipe for one with lentils and brie, yummy!
The Frog Prince: What do you find disgusting?
I'm not easily disgusted, comes with the job and schooling of being a veterinary scientist I guess.
Jack and the Beanstalk: What plants are in your room?
I love plants, I have six different ones in my room at the moment: a dark red Phalaenopsis orchid, a white flowering Christ thorn, a blue hydrangea (reaching the end of it's flowering) and three green (non-flowering) plants of which I don't know the exact names (one succulent and two 'leafy' plants). Oh yes, and a vase of Dianthus (Sweet William), almost forgot those!
Puss in Boots: Do you have a pet? Do you want one?
Don't know if you could exactly call it a pet, but I have a Shetland pony. She doesn't live at my house, but at a riding school 6 km out. I've had her for over 18 years now, so couldn't imagine my life without her! When I was younger (and smaller) I used to ride her, but now I brush and walk her, there's a young girl at the riding school who rides her twice every week.
I would love to have more pets! I'm not allowed 'hairy' pets in my house, only birds and fishes, but in the future, I would love to have some rabbits or guinea pigs and goats and chickens if I have the room for it.
Rumpelstiltskin: What is the meaning of your url?
When I first started posting at the C19 forum, my 'name' was birdie. I like birds, hence the name.... When I made an LJ-account, the name birdie was already taken, so I made it birdienl: birdie from the Netherlands.
Little Mermaid: Can you sing?
I believe so.... I've been in a choir for about 5 years during my student time. I still love to sing, but I'm not actively engaged in it at the moment.
Pinocchio: What is your greatest wish?
To have a library in my house with a ladder to reach the upper shelves ;-)
Peter Pan: What is your (mental) age?
Growing up, I often felt older than the people of my own age and I still feel comfortable when I'm with 'older' people (say 35-40). On the other hand however, as I'm single, do not have children and do not have a 'real' house, I sometimes tend to feel younger than my contemporaries, but only in those aspects.
The Star Money: What is your most prized possession?
If animals are a possession, then my dear pony Giandra. Otherwise, my laptop or my complete book collection (cheating!)
Beauty/Belle: What is your favorite book?
*Sigh*, when do meme people learn they should never ask this question... Okay then, among my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönte and Arena by Karen Hancock.

Date: 2013-06-27 09:55 pm (UTC)'To have a library in my house with a ladder to reach the upper shelves' - THIS! <3
Talking about your mental age, it all sounds like it could have come out of my mouth. I, too, often and still do feel older than others my age but at the same time, they all seem to have children and are in long term relationships and I'm not. It's weird, isn't it? Like in some ways you're more mature but in others, is it that we're less mature or that we're a little pickier? I'm not sure.
That book question is a meanie, why do we have to choose just one? That's an impossible task. Good job narrowing it down!
You want to visit Australia AND America? Me too! Australia looks like such an awesome place to visit, New Zealand looks beautiful, I can see why so many people like the idea of visiting there, also.
A great couple of memes! Some very good/interesting answers. Sorry my comment is so long and rambly.

Date: 2013-06-28 10:40 am (UTC)Yes, I think many people who, when they are teenagers, feel older than their contemporaries and probably also different, maybe do not as easily slip into the mainstream live once they are 'older'. I just seem to have other priorities and wishes concerning my life (plus the fact that I just haven't met 'my man' yet...)

Date: 2013-06-28 10:59 am (UTC)Yeah, definitely, I agree with that. We don't just want to follow the standard rules of the world and want to find the right person and all that. :P Half the people I 'knew' who have kids are on their 2nd or 3rd, some of which have different dads and some of them had their first when they were teenagers. I'd rather have a solid relationship first!

Your room sounds so lovely with all those plants! <3
The more I hear about your Shetland pony the more I fall in love with her! So adorable!
Ohhh, now I understand your username! I've been "pronouncing" it in my head as all one word and never really got what it meant.
Ooh, a Tiffany lamp - how gorgeous!
It's always so nice to learn more about you :-)
Your year sounds pretty nice so far...

Date: 2013-06-28 08:17 am (UTC)I love plants in my room. I really want to have a garden someday, but for now, the plants are my 'surrogates'
I've got a post coming (in the next few days) in which you might hear (and see) a little bit more about my pony!
I got my Tiffany lamp for my 26th birthday, it was one of the best gifts I've ever gotten! I posted about it at that time: http://birdienl.livejournal.com/7629.html

Date: 2013-06-28 11:42 pm (UTC)That's great! And I'm sure when you do have a garden, you'll still have plants inside because they are so fun!
Oh good! I meant to ask you, is she doing better? I know a few weeks ago you were worried about her because she wasn't eating well.
WOW! That is really amazing! So beautiful! I'm sure it will look perfect someday in your nice big library with that grand ladder! :D

Date: 2013-07-06 05:05 am (UTC)Incidentally, I have sung The Messiah with a small choir a few years back. It was lovely! Such a wonderful experience with such beautiful songs. I hope you do get the chance yourself someday.
Also! I see you're a fan of The LBD. I loved it! Happy to meet a fellow fan. Very happy! :D

Date: 2013-07-06 06:15 pm (UTC)I am a big fan of The LBD. I saw that you posted in your journal about the follow-up(s), Sanditon and The Autobiography of Jane Eyre. I watch them both, but I don't like them as much (yet?) as The LBD.

Date: 2013-07-08 11:02 pm (UTC)Okay, so I love the gif at the top of this post! That's first. Second, that Disney meme is WAY fun. Loved perusing it. :)
And yay for Foyle's War. Really enjoyed the most recent set except for the subtle differences in the relationship between Sam and Foyle - which really I felt was on Sam's part more than his. Excited to watch 'Elementary' this summer also - and cool that you'd like to visit America. Hope you get over here someday; I have a list of someday places also. It's fun to dream, right?! ;)

Date: 2013-07-09 02:53 pm (UTC)I finished watching the last series of Foyle's last weekend. It was nice to see Foyle and Sam again, but I wasn't horribly impressed by the series for the rest of it. Hope I will write a review (someday, I'm soooo behind)
