Day 23 - A character who you can relate to the most

I've already referred to Jo March from Little Women in day 16, so for this question I will go for Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. Like Elinor, I'm a very practical person, I'm not easily swept from my feet and I think we've got about the same taste in men...

Two quotes of Elinor that I could also use:
I think it’s best not to hope too fervently for something that may never happen.
In such a case it is perhaps better to use one's head.

Day 24- The best page-to-screen film adaptation

I'm going to cheat and take a small screen in stead of large screen adaptation: Far from the Madding Crowd (1998) with Paloma Baeza as Bathseba Everdene and Nathaniel Parker as Gabriel Oak. Great acting and very true to the novel. If you haven't seen it: do! Grab your chance to watch an adaptation of a non-depressing Thomas Hardy book ;-)

Day 25- Favourite film villain

Sean Bean as Ian Howe in National Treasure. Just because he can do evil so very well and still stay ridiculously handsome. And I usually don't even fancy blond men...

Thomas Hardy wrote a non-depressing book? Amazing! I always steer clear of adaptation of his work because they're so dismal. But I'll definitely have to check this one out :) It'll be next on my list!

Oh yes! Far from the Madding Crowd has a happy ending. Ofcourse the heroine (Bathseba) has to go through some hardship before reaching the happy ending, but that's the same in for example Brönte or Dickens stories. BTW: Under the Greenwood Tree is also very non-depressing, even light. And Mayor of Casterbridge can also be said to have a moderately happy ending.
