Sep. 3rd, 2010 12:08 pmAlright, here I come with two short memes, because I haven't been doing any for a while.
Meme 1:
- Leave a comment saying "What's up?!"
- I'll ask you five questions to satisfy my curiosity.
- Update your journal with the answers to your questions.
- Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions.
hotaruanne gave me the following questions:
1. What role would you play in a movie (if you could)?
Well, I wouldn't mind playing a Jane Austen heroine! I think Anne Elliot, because I'm about her age now. With Hugh Jackman or Ioan Gruffud as Captain Wenthworth!
2. What's your favourite book and why?
That's an impossible question for any booklover! There are many books that I love dearly, but I'm going to mention one I think not many people know of yet: Arena by Karen Hancock. It's a very clever allegorical tale which also has a lovely romance in it.
3. If you ever write an autobiography about your life, what would you name it?
From rural child to professor (If I ever become a professor)
4. What's the number one place in the world you want to visit someday soon?
Another impossible question! I'll just go for Edinburgh, because I've heard many great things about it and I love UK cities in general.
5. Favourite ship of all time and why?
Well, I think a Frisian sail boat... No just kidding!
Lizzy and Darcy, how original. But these are just two great characters, look at all the sequels, prequels, modern day adaptations and spin-offs that have been made of their story.
Meme 2: stolen from

Hi, my name is: Tryntsje
Never in my life have I been: beyond Europe
The one person who can drive me nuts is: My sister
When I’m nervous: I start working very hard, for example cleaning my room
The last song I listened to was: We've got the radio one here in the office, but it's more like background noise, I don't really listen to it
If I were to get married right now my best man/maid of honor: Jeltsje and Renske, my two oldest friends
When I was 5: My father build a tent for me in the garden and I played house in it
Last Christmas: My sister surprised my parents by coming home from uni in Denmark withouth their knowledge
You know I like you when: I spend time with you.
You know I don't like you when: I avoid you.
Take my advice: Watch Falling for a Dancer, it's a lovely romantic mini-series with beautiful views of Ireland and a handsome brooding here with a golden heart (my LJ-cut line is from this series)
The thing I want to buy: I'm rather satisfied at the moment. I would however like some chocolate to help me through my Friday...
If you visited the place I was born: You'd probably find it flat, rather low-populated, lovely green in the summer, but muddy and depressing in winter.
I plan to visit: a part of the UK each year
If you spent the night at my house: You could choose between sleeping in the guest room or on a matrass in my room.
The world could do without: Floods and other natural disasters
Most recent thing I’ve bought myself: A Turkish pizza (Lahmacun) and some baby tomatoes for lunch
Most recent thing someone else bought me: I guess that would be a souvenir from Turkey from a friend of mine, a little ceramic bowl
Last night I was: having the first choir practice after summer, yeah!
There’s this girl I know who: used to carry dead horses legs around in a bag (this has a legitimate reason, if you want to know what, ask!)
If I was an animal I’d be: a Shetland pony, I could finally talk to my own two Shetland ponies!

Date: 2010-09-04 08:50 pm (UTC)1. What's your least favourite period drama, and why?
2. What's your favourite historical period, and why?
3. If you could meet Lucy from Narnia and ask her one question, what would it be?
4. What talent would you like to have?
5. If you could spend 1000 euro's (or dollars in your case) on a charity, which would it be?
Thanks for the compliment about my name! It's a typically Frisian name, I think if I write it fonetically in English it would be something like Treantsje (ea from bean, and the r is a rolling r). The name is derived from Catherine, so has the same meaning as that name, which is 'the pure one'.

I know what you mean about pronunciation. People ask me my Korean name, and usually slaughter it. :P

Date: 2010-09-09 01:09 pm (UTC)Bring an almost empty bag with not too many clothes and other stuff. Then you can fill it with books on the way back :D You can also fill up your hand luggage with books up till the maximum amount of kilos and pretend the bag is not heavy. Put some small books in your jacket pockets as well :P Or something.
Then comes the problem: how to fit everything in your bookcases...
