I have something to confess. Sometimes, I can get a little bit addicted to games. Most often, this is phone games like Set or Alchemy or 4 Pics, 1 Word and I want to play them all the time. To finish more levels, solve more puzzles, get a better high score! Then, there´s a few weeks each year when I´m completely into the new chapter of Delicious!

GeoGuessr!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] moredetails, I discovered a really cool (and addicting) new game: GeoGuessr. It's terribly simple: you are 'dropped' somewhere in a Google StreetView location and you have to guess where you are. You can move around, follow the street you're on, like you normally can in StreetView. You can use clues like vegetation, street signs, what side of the road the cars drive on etc. and then pinpoint the place you think you are on the map. The closer you are to the real location, the more points you get. You get five locations in total and then are awarded a score. My high-score so far is 13682!

The tagline of the game is 'let's explore the world' and funny enough, it really does feel that way. In two days, I've been everywhere from the middle of nowhere in inner Australia to busy provincial towns in Brazil to the drive of a castle in Czech Republic! And I've discovered I really can't distinguish a back road in Mexico from one in Brazil....

Have a go at it and let me know how you fare!

The nice thing about being a Jane Austen fan, is that outside of her books there's such a host of other fandom related things to enjoy! Modern adaptations, prequels, sequels, devotionals, festivals and dolls, we've heard it all. Now there is also a Facebook game taking place in Jane Austen's world! It's aptly called Jane Austen: Rogues and Romance. The main goal of the game is to finish search-and-find levels, in which you find hidden objects in Regency settings. In between the levels Jane Austen herself and her characters tell a continuous story. There's also a social aspect to the game: players can challenge each other or send each other gifts.

But the most fun part of the game is that you have you're own manor! With the money you earn by completing levels, you can furnish the house to your own taste with all kinds of interesting period furniture and trifles. Here are some screenshots of my manor:
