Sweet Land is a beautiful intimate movie with a sweet love story told more by the looks and expression of the main actors than by many words. Definitely recommended!

Synopsis (from Amazon): Inge arrives in Minnesota in 1920 to marry a young Norwegian farmer named Olaf. Her German heritage and lack of official immigration papers makes her an object of suspicion in the small town, and she and Olaf are forbidden to marry. Alone and adrift, Inge goes to live with the family of Olaf s friend and neighbour Frandsen and his wife Brownie, where she learns the English language, American ways, and a hard-won independence. Inge and Olaf slowly come to know each other, and against the backdrop of endless farmland and cathedral skies they fall in love, a man and woman united by the elemental forces of nature.

So glad to find others who have found the film. I knew about it from a producer who helped make it, but that wasn't why I helped campaign and got people to see it. An underrated classic, and the filmmaker sent me the great poster AND the CD soundtrack as thanks!

It is indeed an underrated movie. I can't even remember how I first heard from it, but I do know I had lots of difficulty in finding a copy... But I'm very glad I found it eventually!
