Questions from
ladyadeone
01. Can you swim well?
I have no idea, because I haven't swam for at least the last 12 years. I've never really liked swimming, especially in an indoor pool, it's so warm and humid, yuk...
02. What is your favorite flower and why?
Sweet peas (Lathyrus), they have lovely colours, a sweet smell and they look great in a summer bouquet.
03. What's the oldest movie you like?
Ben Hur, from 1959. Amazing action scenes, if you consider they didn't have CGI at that time. And a beautiful story ofcourse.
04. Do you ever drink Starbucks?
No, because I don't drink coffee. I did have Starbucks hot chocolate once, but I thought I could make it myself just as good without spending 3 euros. They do have wonderful cakes though, but there are not that many Starbucks in The Netherlands yet, so I don't buy them often.
05. Can you laugh - heartily - at yourself?
Yes, if I'm not very tired or sorely disappointed.
06. What is one important thing you want to do before you die?
I would very much like to have a long, loving relationship with a man, preferably also get married.
07. Do you mind others singing along to music?
No, generally not, if I'm not trying to concentrate very much on for example a difficult piece of reading.
08. Why are you on LJ?
I originally came onto LJ to post my icons and look at other people's icons. Now I love just to read my friend's entries, interact with them, read discussions on my favourite tv-shows and still post my icons and look at other people's icons!
09. What is the best thing you did today?
Spend my afternoon in the lab, for the first time in almost two years. I was a bit rusty for starters, but it felt very good to be hands-on with science again!
10. Buttons or zippers?
In jeans, zippers, because buttons look sort of awkward. In coats, buttons, because generally coats with zippers are more sporty and I like classic coats.
11. What is your favorite word?
I often say blimey
Questions from
wunderkind_lucy
1. What is your favorite flower?
I'll just name another one: tulips!
2. Besides the Bible, what is the oldest book that you've actually enjoyed?
We had to read a medieval text in secondary school: Reynard, which I remember thinking quite funny. It's believed to stem from the 13th century.
3. Jane Austen or Charlotte Brontë?
Hard to answer at this very moment, as I just yesterday finished rereading Jane Eyre. I was reminded again how wonderful a novel it is. But I love Jane Austen to bits as well, so I really can't choose!
4. Historical or fantasy?
Historical. I do like a fantasy novel or movie now and then, but only a select few, while I love almost everything with history in it!
5. Are you done with Christmas shopping yet?
Christmas shopping? We don't start thinking about Christmas here in The Netherlands until after Sinterklaas (5th of December)! And I still have to get some presents for Sinterklaas as well.
6. What is one of your talents?
Cleaning up. I'm never daunted by mess, I actually like the task of sifting through heaps of papers and sorting out what's still important and what can be thrown away. As I'm very tidy, I don't usually make a lot of mess myself, but I help family members or friends who have a 'mess problem' ;-)
7. Can you whistle?
Yes, though not very well in tune
8. What historical place fascinates you?
Late 18th or 19th century England. Because of my love for the novels from that period obviously.
9. Narnia or Middle Earth?
Middle Earth. It feels more real somehow, because of the extensive descriptions by Tolkien. And I would just love to see all the cities of the Elves described in Tolkien's work.
10. Is there something that you've wanted to do as a child but still want to do today?
As a kid, I would dream of one day living in a little house somewhere in the countryside and having lot's of animals, some rescued from neglect or abuse. I still hope to live in such a place someday and have horses, goats, rabbits, chickens, cats etc. etc.
11. To be or not to be, that is the question ;)
To be!
My questions for you:
1. What's your favourite month of the year?
2. What's the most useful invention ever made?
3. Tea or coffee?
4. Boots or sneakers?
5. If you had to be without either books or music the rest of your life, which would you choose?
6. Are you afraid of spiders?
7. Would you rather win an Oscar or a Nobel Prize?
8. What is your favourite non-domestic animal?
9. Which book would you very much like to see adapted to a movie or tv (mini) series?
10. What food did you hate as a child, but have you learned to enjoy?
11. What is, in your opinion, a good solution for the world wide environmental crisis? (can be either very small or very large scale)

Date: 2011-11-30 07:45 am (UTC)How do you easily keep up with your Wordpress and Blogger friends? I've got a few of those sites I like to read as well, I put them in my Internet Explorer favourites, but a sort of friends-list would be easier.

Date: 2011-12-05 03:42 am (UTC)I keep the Blogger/Wordpress guys listed in two places. There is one lust down the side of my LJ so that people can see who I like to read. I also have them all listed in a google reader account, which shows blogs with recent unread posts.
