A little meme I found at Another Period Drama Blog a few weeks ago:

Do you snack while you read? If so, favourite reading snack:
Depends on the time of the day when I read, but yes, I do tend to snack when I eat. Which is very dangerous with a bag of crisps sitting beside you and being very much immersed a story...

What is your favourite drink while reading?
Tea, always tea!

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
No! Why would I do that? I used to mark my studybooks, but never the ones I read for myself.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
Bookmarks. Though they have the annoying habit of always getting lost (and then you find out you're sitting on top of them...)

Fiction, non-fiction, or both?
Mostly fiction, but some interesting non-fiction mixed in. I do have a subscription to some magazines, so that's my non-fiction diet.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?
Depends on the book. But I do like to finish a part of a story, whether this exactly ends at the end of a chapter or not I don't care very much.

Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you?
No, I've never thrown a book around. I do tend to voice my discontent (or liking) which might lead to some surprised looks when I read in public.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?
No, I don't think I would, but this rarely happens.

What are you currently reading?
Safe Harbour by one of my favourite authors Luanne Rice

What is the last book you bought?
God and Charles Dickens by Gary L. Colledge. I bought it from [livejournal.com profile] litlover12 actually! I'm trying not to buy books at the moment, because I want to buy some books while I'm in the UK for holiday and on a book market here in The Netherlands in September.

Do you have a favourite time/place to read?
I can pretty much read anywhere, but I do like to read a bit before I go to sleep and I read quite a lot in public transport. Makes the trip go so much faster! I even drove past my normal stop in the bus once because I was immersed in a book!

Do you prefer series books or stand alones?
They both have their (dis)advantages. With a series it gives you more time to really get to know the characters and tell a more complex story. But, when you have just read one part and have to wait for the next ones to appear or become available at the library, that's very very annoying :-(

Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?
Yes, a number of my favourite authors: Jasper Fforde, Lynn Austin, Luanne Rice etc. etc. I don't always try to get people to read the classics, because I know not everyone can appreciate them.

How do you organize your books? (by genre, title, author’s last name, etc.)
By author and I have my non-fiction books on another shelf then my fiction books. Also all my classics are standing together.

I read mostly fiction too although I will read a non-fiction from time to time if the subject interests me.

lol yeah that is one thing I don't like about series. Although the waiting can be fun too...

Nice meme. I might steal this from you!

Awesome, awesome meme!

Bookmarks. Though they have the annoying habit of always getting lost (and then you find out you're sitting on top of them...)

I am so glad I'm not the only one who does that! I end up using tissues or something else as a bookmark because I can never find my pretty bookmarks.

I'm very intrigued by God and Charles Dickens now, thanks!

Yes, I've used scraps of paper or old envelopes as bookmarks as well. I have a very pretty one from The Book of Kells now from my last holiday to Dublin. I'll probably buy another one of my next holiday as well, just in case...

Butting in to say: A. You're absolutely not the only one who keeps losing/sitting on bookmarks!

And B. [livejournal.com profile] msantimacassar I love your icon - I just finished the book yesterday, after watching the series about 2 weeks ago... (Disc 2 is actually still in my computer) :)

This is a good book meme!

-I organize my books in the same way. :)
-What you wrote about your favourite place to read a book
-Bookmarks...Yes, that always happens to me as well.
-I love drinking tea but also coffee or a glass of wine. I actually never snack whilst reading, but I'm always thirsty.
-I prefer to read to the end of a chapter before stopping, and if I'm reading a really good book I might even stay awake all the night, because I just can't put it down (the occasional insomnia sometimes helps in that way)

I've never read all night through, but an hour or two longer than I was planning to happens sometimes!

Is it okay if I friend you? I see we have some things in common. Like books. Jasper Fforde. Fanfiction. And so on.
:-)
